Nkem's Secondary school

Nkem is a practising lawyer in the UK and currently works for the Ministry of Justice, London.  Nkem also volunteer as an Ex-Officio Trustee for The City of London Justice Room Charitable Trust (Relief of Poverty) and at her local food bank.

Nkem studied Law at London South Bank University. She went on to complete her Law School and Post Graduate Professional Skills Course at the University of Law in London and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales thereafter.

Growing up in a rural village, Ikpamodo, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu Ezike, Enugu State, Nigeria, Nkem was a 17 year old girl that had a dream and aspiration. A dream of one day going to University and pursuing a career in International Relations. Being a twin, it was a real struggle finishing secondary school. Her dream to go to University was shattered by lack of finance, as her parents, who were separated could not afford it. Going to University for her was a lost cause.  She eventually bowed to pressure and got married. Very few girls went to University due to lack of funds, boys who went to university were even fewer.

Whilst raising three boys, Nkem made it a point to go back to school and is deeply indebted to her husband, her boys and her late mum for their support and encouragement.
For one, she had to go through college and pass all her GCSE and access courses before gaining admission into the university to study law – she worked her socks off!

So many deserving underprivileged young people in her village harbour such dreams and have no hope of actualising them. That is a lot of dreams being cut off. When these young people get the opportunities they deserve, they better themselves, poverty goes down, economy grows, and the world, by all accounts, gets better.

We are hoping to raise £6000 and your support will help over 5 students every year who are building bright futures through undergraduate studies.

Each donation you make removes financial barriers for one person who will turn their higher education into a lifetime of opportunity.
